Ah, Yumi Zouma return with new music! The New-Zealand indie-pop are releasing singles in the build up to ‘Willowbank’, the band’s second full length album (not counting this year’s album in which they cover Oasis’s (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? in its entirety) which will come out on October 6.
Yumi Zouma released their first self-titled EP in 2014, which was quickly followed by ‘II’ in 2015. Last year saw the release of their debut full length ‘Yoncalla’ which was one of my top favourite albums of 2016.
Yumi Zouma have soundtracked a lot of my bike rides or random strolls around town and never failed to bring a smile to my face with their upbeat songs perfect for summer. Just listen to “(Barricade) Matter of Fact”, “Keep it Close To Me”, “Dodi” or “Catastrophe”.
And now there are two new songs, “December” and “Depths (Pt. 1)” (which will be the album’s opening track). Both have that familiar dreamy and disco-influenced sound but with a nostalgic undertone.
I know what my most played album of October will be..
