Blue Hawaii – No One Like You

Blue Hawaii are back with new material since 2013’s album Untogether (if you don’t count the double A-side “Get Happy / Get Happier” released in 2014). You might know them thanks to their successful and dreamy singles “Try To Be” and “In Two”.

The Montreal based duo Raphaelle “Ra” Standell-Preston and Alex “Agor” Cowan return with single “No One Like You”. It has a bit more of a ‘warm’ sound to it than their previous releases. That might be because it’s a cover of “There’s Never Been (No One Like You)” by Kenix featuring Bobby Youngblood. But they cover it well. Makes us curious to what their next single will sound like.

The new album “Tenderness” (out on October 6) will apparently have more songs with a ‘deep-disco’ and ’90’s’ inspired sound to it. The duo has also described their new record as “Björk meets the xx and DJ Koze.”

By the way, if you think Raphaelle’s voice sounds familiar then you’re right! She’s also the singer of indie-pop band Braids.
